Growing up
in Northern California Whitney Nichole participated in various music groups and
spent her summers at performing arts camps. After graduating from high
school, Whitney jumped coasts to attend Yale University. There, she
joined Mixed Company, a co-ed a cappella group, and Whim ‘n Rhythm, the
exclusive all-senior women’s ensemble. While at Yale, Whitney toured
extensively, performing in England, Spain, Ireland, Japan and all
through the United States. She recorded three albums, Waiting for
Thursday (Whim ‘n Rhythm 2005), Trespassing (Mixed Co. 2003) and Two
Steps (Mixed Co. 2005) for which
she received critical acclaim. After
college, Whitney began songwriting. She moved to New York City, where
she briefly contemplated selling her soul to the field of law, but
quickly regained her senses and decided to pursue her music full-time.
In 2006, Whitney collaborated with Socially Irresponsible before forming
her current band,
Whitney and the Tuesdays with guitarist Barry Pfeffer
and bassist Lee Greenman. She is now performing
regularly around NYC, and is in the midst of recording
her first EP. Her songwriting is influenced by contemporary pop, indie
rock, jazz, blues and most heavily... Jake Gyllenhaal.
